By the Riverside

After defusing the bombs that the guerrilleros placed on the scarecrows, and after having saved Darei from destruction, which was an almost Impossible Mission we had at night, we had cookies and milk and went to bed.
Next day, Monday, was just another ordinary day at Darei: english, singing, dancing and water games. At night we tried dancing The Salsa, with Nina, the teacher.

Salvámos Darei, depois ceámos leite e bolachas, e fomos dormir cansados. Dia seguinte foi mais um dia normal no escritório: inglês, cantar, dançar, jogos de água e mergulhos. À noite, a Nina ensinou-nos a dançar a Salsa.

Canoes and crocodiles

Yesterday there were pirogas and indians on the river. And crocodiles! 

At night we had to help the soldiers to save the village from a dangerous threat. 

Darei iria desaparecer do mapa se não conseguíssemos encontrar a tempo os explosivos armadilhados. 

Os habitantes da vila dependiam de nós. 

 Era necessário toda a coragem... 

... and we were brave!

Laundry

Today we had to do the laundry.
Fomos ao tanque de lavar a roupa da aldeia, lavámos as peúgas e as t-shirts com sabão azul, bem esfregadinho.
Depois torcemos e centrifugámos, tal qual como na máquina de lavar...
Roupa lavada, quartos arrumados, prontos para mais uma semana

O desafio seguinte foi um inquietante safari pela savana de Darei, com muitos perigos e animais selvagens. Este programa abriu o apetite for a fine lunch by the porche and for the afternoon games.

Depois de as visitas partirem iremos para a praia, como habitualmente, para a Happy Hour com sumo, sandes e mergulhos no rio.

O calor voltou

Amanhã começamos o dia com um safari, depois temos que dar uma volta nas roupas, ou melhor, nas clothes.

Mangualding

Hoje houve falta de água de manhã. Felizmente havia uma reserva de baldes que deu para lavar a cara. Quando voltou já nós tínhamos partido para Mangualde todos ramelosos. Esperamos que não volte a acontecer mas já percebemos que temos que poupar porque a mina de Darei está com menos caudal nesta altura do ano. E tem que se apagar fogos também, e que regar, e tem que chegar para tudo…

Today is not so hot. Still smoke from fires in the horizon, but in Darei we are allright

No english classes and no rehearsal. We were out all day. In the morning we walked in the streets of Mangualde looking for answers, and we had a cool afternoon swiming and sliding in the fantastic public pool.

Ao fim da tarde vamos então para casa tomar um indispensável duche. Se fôr de água fria até gastamos menos. E um reconfortante jantar. E à noite nada de correrias que estaremos certamente estafados. Ficamos a jogar às cartas… E vamos para a cama mais cedo…

O blog agora tem acesso aberto a toda a gente.
As restrições que tínhamos definido foram abolidas.

After this information we can also inform that life in SummerCourse is going very well, although conditioned by the hot weather.
We go to the beach every afternoon and try to refresh in the cold waters of the river.
When we go to the open air activities we always use hat and sunscreen. It’s hot but it’s fun.
And at night it get fresher… Night games are a thrill.

Ontem falámos ao telefone, e agora só 6ªF, aliás Friday, é que falamos outra vez, se falarmos…

Hoje há Inglês, Ensaios e Jogos, como habitualmente. The boys rooms estão desarrumados, como habitualmente, e the girls rooms impecáveis, excepto um, que não revelamos agora. É uma fase, vai passar…

Amanhã vamos a Mangualde conhecer a cidade e ficamos na piscina municipal toda a tarde. Fazemos piquenique, comemos gelados…etc

The Staff

Getting Started

Another hot day. We can see smoke from here, but the fire is very far away. No worries.

We must concentrate on learning, dancing, singing, playing and winning the games!

At the end of the afternoon we have the Happy Hour at the river beach when we snack, we swim and we dive on the River Dão.

Everybody is happy now. All hours are Happy Hours now.

Todas as horas são boas, já ninguém sofre por estar longe de casa.

Aprendemos, dançamos, cantamos, jogamos. É uma vida dura.

Está calor e a melhor hora é quando vamos dar um mergulhinho ao rio, ao fim da tarde.

Ontem chegaram dois estudantes estrangeiros para enriquecer a equipa de monitores: o Alex, da Bielorússia, com 20 anos e a Nina, da Sérvia, com 21. São muito simpáticos e só falam mesmo inglês, para alem do idioma deles. O Alex pregou-nos um grande susto no jogo de ontem à noite, no campo. Foi da maneira que depois dormimos todos muito bem.

The Dog days are over...

The first night at Darei was a challenge for the newcomers. After a long trip on the train, after meeting all the new friends and after the night games, some of us were too excited to sleep. It was late night when silence was finally heard. Those who feel homesick won the first round and survived the first night.

Today we had our first english class while walking on the farm. We visited the little pigs, the donkey, the cows, the poney, the vegetable garden and the fruit trees.

At dinner Inês blew 11 candles on her birthday cake and we all had a piece.

The night game was scary, especially because Alex, the bielorussian member of the staff, scared us in the dark. Tomorow we will revenge.
